Supplementing you

Ah the whole question around supplements! Are you a firm believer in eating all the right foods and no supplements or eat all the right foods and supplements on top. Or are you ALL ABOUT THE SUPPLEMENTS?

I am in 2 minds. On the one hand I believe in putting the goodness in through food- the right food and the right food groups & nutrients. For this reason I can't wait to read the new book from https://thekitchenprescription.com which will explore just this and how we can eat away our health issues current or future.

On the other hand, with a house full of very different food likes & dislikes, fussy teenagers and a strapping husband, sometimes we don't eat enough veg. One doesn't eat enough fruit and the other loves sugar, another loves snacking. For that reason I believe supplements are a must, never to replace what we don't have but to bolster what we don't have enough of.
Somebody once told me that all vitamins and supplements, unless a certain brand, were falsely marketing to us all, that the levels of the vitamins were all misleading and that there was no point trying to stick to a regime of anything but.... I have experienced something very different. And strangely enough never felt better since I stopped that particular brand.
So do what feels good by you. Only you know how your insides & outsides respond. My choices are entirely reflective of the life stage I am in. I'm turning 49 in a week, I'm likely pre menopausal (although other than night sweats I'm not there yet). I exercise 6-7 times a week and I don't, for now, work. These facts determine the choice.

I'm a morning and evening fan.
Evening is all about chilling, addressing muscles used, preventing night cramps and giving my skin an extra boost, helping mental tiredness and supporting a nervous system that's taken a battering over the last 12 months.

Thinking about what you need to wake up to- legs that are ready for new movement, less fatigue and a mind ready for action.
Morning choices are all based around immunity, health, skin & hair. Again- these aren't recommendations necessarily but I have tried and tested for years.

This is what works for me. We're all completely different and our choices are our own. I'd love to know what's the one supplement you can't do without. In an ideal world they'd all be derived from food or nature- most of them are. I for one take these religiously. I'd also love to think first and foremost I get what I need from what I eat. But nobody's perfect.
